The Beatles Come In
Robert Harrison once said “I dont see a lot of differences from REVOLVER and RUBBER SOUL”. “For me, those album was more like Vol.1 and Vol. 2”. Revolver sounds more energetic and more common for those generations . REVOLVER, an album which released in August 1966 , made other 60's album's sounds very oldies. One of the revolutionery things about the album is from the visual art. Klaus Voormann,an artis and a frien from one of The Beatles friend while their in Hamburg, German, design Revolver art cover ; and made another Beatles art cover: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which more colorful and released a year later. On the other hand, the most revolutionery song in the album is a song that made by John Lennon, “Tommorow Never Knows”. John is taking a lyric from The Tibetan Book of the Dead, Timothy Leary version. And he adding a loop that contain Paul McCartney guitar play in MR.TAXMAN that he played backward! For his part, Paul made a beautiful adult songs like ELEANOR RIGBY and FOR NO ONE. George Harrison made a nice songs too on that album called TAXMAN, I WANT TO TELL YOU, and I LOVE YOU. Those steps are made a balance in Lennon-McCartney dominations in song writing. Revolver, in the end was proving in music, everything can realised. And for The Beatles...it is. |
